ENTJ-A

no subject
The clock ticks closer to time, and Yu starts to wonder...
And then he turns, a reaction to the voice that manages to mask the fact that it caught him by surprise. His eyebrows lift, an amused smile slipping into his expression.]
Thank you. [He thinks? Well, even if it's just teasing -- he does like to be punctual. Unfortunately, before he can ask what he really wants, he has to answer the question:] ... I haven't, no. Seeing it like this, I'm starting to wonder why.
[Even the start of the path is...well, it's nice up here. Really nice. He nods toward the tree Akira is hanging from.] Showing off already, huh?
no subject
[Showing off already, Yu says, and Akira's grin widens, practically mirroring the crescent moon itself with the way it cuts across his features]
I can't help it. [CAN HE, THOUGH?] It's a condition.
[and just like that? he swings himself up to grab at the branch, holding it tightly so he can unhook his knees from the gnarled wood and drop to the ground in a smooth crouch]
A condition for which there is apparently no cure.
[cheeky jerk, even on a lovely date!!]
no subject
... well, anyway.]
No cure? Sure about that? I could try amrita.
[It's a joke, that offer -- he's pretty sure showing off isn't a condition that needs magic. But he's not about to let the remark go unchallenged, either!]
no subject
And waste your SP? [an amused huff] Save it for the big ones, like brainwash or despair.
[tmw it doesn't occur to Akira that perhaps their status effects. . . are different?? though as he teases, he starts drifting his way towards the pathway's beginning, tilting his head to the side to indicate that Yu should follow. they have a bit of a walk before they reach the illuminated flowers in the distance; it's time to get going!]
no subject
No-- now's not the time.]
That's not usually the mode I go for, but fair point.
[Ha ha. Get it? Who uses "conserve SP" mode anyway!! Not him!! Yu wastes no time following the other wild card, though, taking in the gardens as they walk. The night-and-day differences. And, a quiet admittance,] ... I don't come out here as often as I should.
no subject
[another hum, but it's more pensive than playful, his own eyes drifting to the towering walls of greenery and floral that flank either side. their colors may be muted in the darkness, but the way the faux moonlight from above dances across each leaf and petal is enchanting in and of itself]
It's. . . nice.
[that's really stating the obvious, but it's also something he can't stress enough]
. . . I wish this place had a true outdoors, you know?
[in the absence of one, the garden and the Vale are the next best thing]
no subject
Yu is quiet for a moment, thoughtful, eyes on the sky overhead.] ... I do, too.
[It looks real enough that he doesn't feel quite like he's going stir-crazy, but the unfortunate truth is that mostly what it does is make him think of home. Quiet nights of fishing at the Samegawa. Summer festivals with friends. The Junes food court. It's infuriating, in a way, that it makes him wish he had appreciated it all more when he had the chance. The audacity of this place, making him feel like he was never grateful enough.
He exhales. This really is the next best thing.]
... You're right, though. It's really nice. Even if it's a little dark. [A slight nudge at Akira's side, a playful ribbing.]
no subject
[(definitely not an accident. he had called this a date, and he had meant that!!)]
Don't tell me you're afraid of the dark. [more light ribbing, because that always came so easily] Don't worry; it won't be too dark for long.
[the plants will provide ample lighting once they reach their destination! but for now, why not enjoy the journey?]
no subject
If I say I am, will you hold my hand?
[Teasing, with a curve of smile to match, but -- not teasing, at the same time. He didn't miss the brush of Akira's hand, the way it stretched out for just a moment too long. Not long enough.
But he does enjoy the journey, and it's because he enjoys the company. Akira has this way of putting him at ease, a bit, a way of lighting a playful spark in him that isn't always so easy to get at. It's not hard to see why Akira's bonds --confidants?-- would come to rely on him.]
no subject
[it takes him completely off guard. all he can do is laugh, head bowed and bangs curtaining his eyes as he presses his knuckles against his mouth to stifle his chortles]
And here I was, trying to be subtle.
[the next time fingers brush against Yu's, they don't skirt away. they find their place pressed warmly against his palm in a grip that is loose, but affectionate]
You really do just say things with a straight face.
[that's what Yu had said!! it's why Akira had called him dangerous!!]
no subject
For now, Yu's planning to just enjoy the results. The way it gets a laugh out of Akira, the way he sounds like he wasn't expecting it. He never really pictured himself as the sort of person who wanted to make people laugh...but it's a warm feeling, isn't it? Almost as warm as when their fingers lace together. Almost as warm as the heat that threatens to creep into his face. (He may say things like this, but he's not immune to feeling flustered, either.)]
You were succeeding, [said with a faint huff of a laugh.] But I'm not sorry for getting in the way of that.
[Listen, Akira has the upper hand on him here, he has to put up a good fight!!]
no subject
Hm. I think I like that you aren't.
[sorry, he means. if Yu is going to say things that make Akira's heart flutter like a butterfly, than he'd better not be sorry!1]
[but hey, at least the path ahead of them, surrounded by large plants and hearty bushes, is beginning to open up ahead. a faint glow illuminates the darkness from around the corner, and Akira perks up]
Right up ahead. It's the best clearing in the garden; if you thought the walk was nice, wait until we get there.
[to the REAL MAIN EVENT]
no subject
[There's some amusement in the question. Isn't he the one with the rebellious heart? Yu would probably be more surprised if he didn't.
But-- it doesn't matter, in the end, not really. Nothing really seems to matter outside of their joined hands, the way Akira swings them a bit. The affection that jumps in Yu's heart is strange, something that speaks to both who Akira is as a person, and the shared connection between them. Resort be damned, he...feels really lucky that he's gotten to meet him. That he's been able to meet all of the wild cards.
Hearts really does bring out the sentimental fool in him, doesn't it?
(It wasn't that hidden to begin with.)
The glow draws his attention effortlessly, but it's the subtle change in Akira's demeanor that has him really curious.]
Alright. Lead on.
[... so to speak.]
no subject
[. . . it is a beautiful clearing. an open, grassy field with a blanket of glowing flowers spread across the greenery. they gleam in a beautiful array of colors-- yellow and blue and pink and orange-- with some of their petals shifting through multiple shades with each passing second. the clearing itself is surrounded by taller bioluminescent plants, trees and bushes that hang beautifully in the air, curtaining the area with sparkling star-like leaves]
[in the center of the clearing is a picnic blanket, spread across the grass in a flower-free spot, because crushing those beautiful plants would be HORRIBLE. it comes with a pre-prepared basket!! and a few bottles of ramune. the food is not going to be as elegant as their surroundings]
Tah-dah.
[Akira seems quite pleased! but not smugly so]
What do you think?
no subject
It's...still a struggle. Bonds are important, but the pain that comes with losing them is very, very real.
... That's a point for another time.
The view is as dazzling as Akira promised, a bioluminescent showstopper that feels like it should come out of a dream. There's no other way to describe it besides breathtaking. A hidden treasure indeed.
But it's not the view that leaves Yu speechless. It's the picnic blanket neatly laid out in the middle of the clearing. The humbleness of the ramune. How intentionally the scene is set. The fact that someone would do...all of this. for him. on purpose.]
I-- [there's a quiet sense of awe in his voice; he squeezes the other wild card's hand, though it's hard to say whether that's intentional or not.] ... Akira...
no subject
Yeah?
[he squeezes Yu's hand in return, before tugging against it once again to guide his companion towards the little set up nestled between glowing flowers]
I take it that means you like it?
no subject
I--
[oof. again. The Phantom Thief seems to have stolen his ability to speak. Get it together, Narukami.]
This is amazing. I had no idea all of this was here at all.
no subject
And you've been here way longer than I have.
[then again, as much as Akira considers himself a city boy at heart, he is instinctively drawn towards the outdoors. isn't he? the openness of the sky, the sweet scent of freedom wafting though the breeze. . . those are the things he craves the most when he finds himself locked indoors for far too long. so it's not surprising that he was automatically drawn here, of all places]
[once they reach their destination, Akira's fingers gently slip from Yu's, but only so he can plop himself onto the blanket and begin digging through the basket]
Sooo. . . since I'm so new, I can't afford much beyond the basics. [he pulls out a cheap, gas station style bento, packaged neatly with saran wrap over the top so the customer can see the contents: grilled salmon, rice, and some pickled vegetables] But convenience store bentos have saved my life on more than one occasion.
[WHEN HE WAS OTHERWISE TOO BUSY TO MAKE HIMSELF A PROPER MEAL. . .]
