Hmm. Neither. No thanks.
.03 SHOWER OR BATH

I like both, but pirates usually have more interesting stories, right?

.07 SPICY OR SWEET
Both are good. …in moderation.
.08 SUMMER OR WINTER

Extra depends on the person.
ENTJ-A

Comfortably falling into step beside him after this newfound sunshiny part of her psyche suggests being lost with company is always nicer than being lost alone, Nami holds the compass in her hand out for him to get a look at, revealing the slow way the needle spins, never landing anywhere. ]
Kind of silly to think a compass would work here, huh?
[ And then, like the cherry on the surreal sundae, she actually giggles at her lack of foresight, rather than wearing her more instinctual scowl over her lack of a plan. ]
no subject
It's easiest to blame the House, though. So-- he does.]
It's a nice compass, at least, [he says with a smile, after examining it for a moment. Way nicer than his mystery glasses...which he never figured out.
Wow. That giggle sure is something. What's the best way to ask this...] Are you feeling alright, Nami? Anything feel...off?
[Okay, so that's about as subtle as a brick, probably. But he really has to know if she's even aware of this weird mood change.]
no subject
[ And that should be the most alarming thing at all, but Nami's too bolstered by her own cheerful spirits to clock just how weird those cheerful spirits are. ]
Are you feeling alright, Yu? [ Firing back the question almost gleefully, she shoots him another grin and heads off, looking between her compass and the paths ahead, finding no insight in the device, but undaunted anyway. ]
Come on, take a walk with me! At least we'll have a nice time out together, right? Some of these flowers are gorgeous.
no subject
Yeah, let's do it. [He offers an arm for her, like a dork.] They've been going all out with this, so it'll be nice to see what they've come up with.
[I mean, why not, right? This definitely feels like one of those "when in Rome" moments.]
no subject
Might as well make the best of this place being weird again, right?
[ He's cute when he smiles, however slightly, and she's feeling too great about everything not to grin wider at the sight of it. ]
It's lucky I ran into you. Wandering around alone wouldn't have been as fun.
[ The way she's going to recover, look back on the things she's said, and cringe out of her body. ]
no subject
I'm starting to think that our version of "weird" is the resort's version of being "normal."
[Forewarned is forearmed or something, right? Either way, he leans in a bit, gently bumping shoulders.] I'm glad I ran into you, too. I've been wanting to get to know you more.
[Okay, that's-- more straightforward than he normally is about social links, but maybe her attitude is rubbing off on him. Either way, a sudden turn in the maze serves to change the subject. To the left, a long hall of something that looks mostly like roses, though maybe they don't all look exactly right. The scent of them wafts toward them at the intersection. To the right, an archway that seems to be covered in climbing wisteria, heavy scented blooms hanging down from the trellis.]
What do you think, pirate ship navigator? Left or right?
no subject
What about me? [ Cocking her head to the side, she chuckles again and looks out at the fork in the hedges in front of them. ] Left.
[ After decisively heading in her chosen direction, she steals a glance in Yu's direction. ]
What about you? I'm not going just to pour my heart out to some mysterious guy with cute hair.
no subject
[Said with a chuckle -- he's kidding. He's got jokes, sure; whether they're good is kind of a different question. But just because he couldn't resist being a smartass doesn't mean he's not going to offer more information. He starts with a bit of a casual shrug.]
I didn't have anything particular in mind. But I've never met a pirate before, so I'm curious. [As for anything specific...hmm.] Do you like it?
[Yu is seeing the error of just coming out with it like this, now -- he doesn't know where to start with himself, either.]
Anything specific you want to know?
no subject
[ Her hand shifts direction, the tips of her fingers smoothing over the shaggy hair obscuring his forehead and nearly hanging in his eyes. ]
This part.
[ She pulls her hand back, the smile on her face deepening slightly as she looks away from him, humming slightly at the question. ]
I like it now, but I didn't always. There aren't that many good pirates out there.
[ Veering down their chosen route, she tips her head back in consideration. ]
Tell me something you miss from your home.
no subject
He makes a small, thoughtful sound at her words, listening intently and nodding.] ... It's the same in my world, actually. Less adventuring and more robbing, pillaging...
[Okay, that sounds pretty bad, huh. As for her question--]
My friends. [The answer is fairly quick; his expression turns a bit nostalgic at the admittance.]
no subject
But she also knows how pleasantly soft his hair was against her fingers, and she liked the way he looked at her when she reached out and touched his hair, so, smiling and continuing to move easily and without hesitation through the maze it is. She's unlikely to ever not care about getting lost ever again, but for now, the concept of concern feels too far away to bother reaching for. ]
Do you and your friends fight against the robbing and pillaging?
no subject
We didn't deal with many pirates, [said with a huff of a laugh at the end of the line.] But I think it'd depend. They can't all be bad, right? [A little knowing nudge. Look, he doesn't know her that well --though he'd like to change that-- but she seems like a good person, all said.]
Your turn. What do you miss from home?
no subject
Don't be too sure. I've heard some terrible stories about myself back home. [ It's her turn to nudge, and she does so with another muted chuckle. ] I miss real sunshine, and being on the water. Being here has reminded me how handy it is, having an exit in any direction.
[ Her mouth slants thoughtfully. It's been months, and she's acclimated to the demands of the casino, but deep down, she's still wildly homesick. ]
So what was it you were dealing with, if it wasn't pirates.
no subject
Oh yeah? I'd be interested to hear them, sometime. [That may or may not be a challenge. But...he can't help sympathizing with that admission, either, and he quietly nods to show it. He's missed the real outside, too, albeit for different reasons. In some ways, it's like being in the city all over again...claustrophobic, crowded, not nearly open enough. You can see the sky, but it doesn't feel the same. It's just...this is a much more literal trap.
He hums thoughtfully at the follow-up. How could anyone quickly sum up that year in Inaba...?] Murders, deities, high school.
[Oh yeah. Nailed it.]
no subject
Why's it so high? [ If she were more herself, Nami might have kept such an irreverent question to herself, but with the excellent mood she finds herself in – a pleasant state of mind that only seems to grow better the longer she's in proximity to Yu – makes it easy to ask what she'd otherwise be sure of is a stupid question. ]
Is it on a mountain, or just the best education in your home?
no subject
There's some fondness in his tone as he chuckles, responding to her words.] I'll have to keep trying.
[Which is both teasing and honest. He does like a challenge.]
Closer to the latter, but I think it's a metaphorical thing. Younger grades are called lower, middle grades are called middle, and older grades are called higher. [A beat.] Although I'm sure some high schools are on mountains, too.
no subject
Are there any mountains around where you live?
[ The peculiarities of his world's education system aside, all this talk of mountains brings Nami's thoughts back to where they almost always go. Geography, and how completely fascinating it's been finding out what the land is like where everyone here really lives. ]
