Background: Here you go!
Personality:
Independent.
Yu can be considered a bit of a latchkey kid. His parents are often busy with work, so he's left to his own devices. When he first moves to Inaba, he expects it'll be more of the same, with his uncle being a busy detective. He cooks and cleans for himself, keeps up with his own schedule and chores. He's very self-sufficient in this way, and often does things on his own. This can be an asset in a new place with new people, as it's hard to rely on others. But it can also be a little lonely, and as a result, Yu tends to rely on his friends quite a bit.
Friendship-focused.
Despite his quiet demeanor, Yu is pretty outgoing, sticking his nose into other peoples' business with ease. He makes friends easily, and treasures those friendships. He doesn't let discomfort hinder him in most scenarios anyway, but he really doesn't mind most things when it comes to his friends. After all, in the world of Persona 4, his friendships give him advantages in battle. You could say—and he does, in a roundabout way, in various titles in the series—that his friends are his strength.
Easygoing.
It's not that Yu doesn't find things strange or unusual—it's more that he'll go along with them anyway. You might say he "rolls with the punches" and goes with the flow. Because he moved around a lot and switched schools often due to his parents' work, he tends to adapt to new places with relative ease, and his laid back attitude makes it easy for him to make friends. That's not to say that he never gets anxious or anything like that. But he keeps everything pretty close to the cuff, so he keeps a very cool exterior no matter how he's feeling.
Subtle sense of humor.
He's quiet, but Yu is not without humor. He'll go along with weird jokes or make his own, and works great as a "straight man" for other peoples' jokes. That said, occasionally he can be a bit less socially aware with stuff like that, making things come out awkward or a little mean-sounding.
Straightforward.
A key element of Persona 4 is its focus on finding the truth—being true to yourself, who you are, and how you feel. Yu is particularly good at this. He's fairly self-aware and doesn't beat around the bush when he's talking about things. That's not to say he's always entirely honest—he says the truth that people need to hear, not necessarily the one he believes in…and besides, he has plenty of secrets to keep. But he's tactful, insightful, and not shy about poking holes in half-truths or outright falsehoods if someone is lying to him.
Abilities:
Swords. Yu is inexplicably good with swords, and fairly athletic as well. He has plenty of endurance and agility.
Persona. Yu is also able to manifest a persona, sort of an "other self," a manifestation of inner thoughts that has been honed to be able to fight in battle.
Wildcard. Yu is a special sort of Persona-user who is able to wield multiple different Personas at one time. The max is 10, and while he'd be able to access that many, any world-breaking abilities would be unavailable, and fun-breaking abilities would be nerfed to useful-but-not-overpowered status. Here are the ten Personas that he'll have access to:
◩ Izanagi-no-Okami: The World arcana; Yu's ultimate Persona
◩ Rangda: Magician arcana
◩ Trumpeter: Judgement arcana
◩ Atavaka: Chariot arcana
◩ Sraosha: Justice arcana
◩ Kikuri-Hime: Priestess arcana
◩ Barong: Emperor arcana
◩ Neko Shogun: Star arcana
◩ Leanan Sidhe: Lovers arcana
◩ Atropos: Fortune arcana
Inventory:
◩ Cellphone
◩ Photo of him with his friends
◩ Everyday clothes
◩ Duffel bag with Yasogami school uniform (and a few other clothes)
◩ Glasses
◩ Some mementos from friends (macho medal, leather keychain, etc)
